Rep. Kelly Cassidy is proposing new legalization about possessing marijuana. She is introducing to reduce criminal penalties to civil violation for people from Illinois carrying up to 10 grams of marijuana, punishable only by a fine.

Rep. Cassidy together with various church groups supports this cause in hopes of giving a better chance for the future of the people of the state. Rev. Alexander E. Sharp says that criminal records for possession hurts future jobs, housing and educational prospects. While Rev. Myron McCoy says that arresting people for minimal possession and use of marijuana accomplishes nothing.

By passing this new legislation, they say that the authorities will now have more time to catch real criminals and will help ensure fairness in how the law affects lives of people.
